Wildlife Photographer returns!📷

The Natural History Museum, London 58th Wildlife Photographer of the Year is coming to us from 5 May 2023.

The winning photographer is Sascha Fonseca.

Sascha captured his winning image during a three-year bait-free camera trap project high up in the Indian Himalayas. Come and see exhibition this spring.

Under 5s Go Wild!

A fun programme for under 5s that celebrates nature alongside the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition.

This is a great opportunity for young children to learn about nature and have some fun at the same time.

Drop in any time 5 May to 16 July, between 11am to 4pm for:

  • Big bug hunt: Minibeasts have got loose in Sewerby Hall!
  • Garden Explorer Packs: Investigate the gardens and parkland.

Visit us Friday 19 May for:

  • Animal Art: Make bright, bold art all about animals and nature.
  • Fun Music: Enjoy nature-themed nursery rhymes, singing, dancing.
  • Story Time: Listen to a fun animal-themed story!

Medieval Re-Enactment Weekend

On the weekend of 13 and 14 May, 11am to 4pm

Come along and meet curious characters in medieval living encampments, marvel at medieval soldiers preparing for combat and watch thrilling battle sequences.

Engage in medieval kitchen demonstrations, captivating craft displays, feudal fashion workshops, dramatic archery shows and much more.

This fantastic weekend is brought to you by Sir John Savile’s Household and will be fun for all the family.

Vintage afternoon tea

Treat yourself or a loved one to our Vintage Afternoon Tea! 🍰 🫖

Join us in the Orangery, accompanied by a background pianist! Our Vintage Afternoon Tea includes a selection of sandwiches, a homemade scone with jam and cream, a selection of cakes and unlimited tea or coffee.

Helping to protect Humboldt Penguins in the wild 🐧

To celebrate World Penguin Day (25 April)

The Zoo team have set up donation box to raise funds for the conservation in Punta San Juan Peru, who are helping to protect Humboldt Penguins in the wild.

Welcome to Murder at the Hall, presented by Spotlight Theatre Bridlingtona murder mystery with a difference.

Take a step back to April 1912, when the Fairfax family are hosting a party of which is by invitation only... that is until a deathly scream fills the rooms, and then budding sleuths will search the house and its fine rooms on the lookout for clues

Car park development

You Said... We Did

We know our car park struggles at peak times, therefore C.R Reynolds have been on site for the last 3 weeks to install Gulpa Grass Reinforcement creating an additional 45 all-weather parking bays.

The car park will remain open to our visitors during the works, there may be some disruption at times, however this will be kept to a minimum.

Join us for some half term of fun! There will be something for everyone to enjoy, from Rusticus adventures to Wildcat activities, Zoo activities, Magic Shows and Face Painting.

Rusticus Adventures

  • Wind in the Willows: A whole host of silly seasonal activities.
  • Viking Encounter: Embark on a quest for the greatest story ever told.
  • Knights of the Round Table: Learn what it takes to be Knights of the Round Table!
  • Wonderland Adventure: An imaginative journey into Wonderland.

Wildcat Activities

  • Mini Beast Hunt: Find and identify as many mini beasts as you can.
  • Card Making: Create greeting cards, using natural materials.

Zoo Activities

  • Meet the Hoof Stock: Come along and meet our Donkeys, Llamas or Goats.
  • Penguin Hat and Talk Workshop: Learn all about our colony of Humboldt Penguins. 
  • Make Orange Fat Balls: Make a fat ball covered with seeds for you to take home and feed to the birds in your garden.
